The Iceland Lava Fields Trek is a moderate hike, covering 6-10 miles daily over rocky, uneven terrain. You’ll need sturdy hiking boots and a decent fitness level – think regular walks or light cardio prep. Iceland’s weather’s wild, swinging from sunny to rainy in minutes, so pack waterproof gear, layers, and a warm fleece. Summer (June-August) offers near-endless daylight, ideal for hiking, with temps of 40-60°F. Winters are colder and darker, so we stick to summer departures. You’ll fly into Reykjavik (KEF), where we’ll pick you up for a 45-minute drive to the trailhead. Lodges are cozy, with shared rooms (2-4 people) and hot showers, but Wi-Fi’s spotty – perfect for unplugging! Meals lean hearty, with Icelandic staples like lamb stew and skyr, but let us know about dietary needs (vegan? No prob). Altitude’s low, so no worries there, but trails can be slippery after rain. Our guides are locals who know every lava tube and Viking tale, keeping groups small (max 12) for a personal vibe. Iceland’s eco-conscious, and so are we – we support local businesses and leave no trace. Passports must be valid for 6 months; no visas needed for most (check for your country). Travel insurance’s recommended for unexpected hiccups. Bring a small daypack, water bottle, and camera – the lava fields’ stark beauty’s a photographer’s dream. Expect some chill evenings, so a beanie’s clutch. Ready to trek an alien world? Let’s go!
