Who wants to help me playtest some new monsters I'm cooking up for a future campaign?

I need between one to four volunteers to take the role of a dummy party to see how challenging my brainchildren are. I'll be running a series of encounters, and trying to see how easy/difficult the fight ends up being for the PCs.

    Yes, this is for d20.

The party consists of a fighter, a cleric, a rogue, and a wizard, so does anyone have any preferences?

I'm already familiar with fighter, so I might as well try that.

Ok, then I'll give Hunter the other spellcaster and Ron will get the rogue. I'll send you character blocks via PM shortly, and I'll need both of you to choose what spells you'd like to have prepared for your respective casters. Your choices should reflect something that the characters would prepare on an "average" sort of day, since they don't know what they're walking into. The choices you make here will remain in place for the duration of the entire testing session, unless prevailing conditions change.

If you have any questions, let me know, but things should be pretty straightforward.

Standard D&D 3.5 combat rules will prevail, but with the following in mind:

    • PCs are permitted to begin the encounter with any spell effects of a duration of "10min./level" or longer already in effect; your choices are limited to whatever spells you have prepared or whatever magical items (i.e., potions, scrolls, etc.) that you have access to (as outlined in the characters' specific blocks). This is to reflect actions the PCs may have taken before the encounter began.

    • All characters, PCs and monsters, will be taking 10 on their initiative rolls. This is in an effort to minimize the random element and go with an "average" initiative roll.

    • Environmental details will be given when an encounter begins, and may change from encounter to encounter.

You know, if you did this as some kind of contest with groups of PC's fighting each other, that would have the potential to be interesting and fun.

The first rule of Dice Club is not to talk about Dice Club.

Our four intrepid adventurers kick open the dungeon door and find....!

You see before you two very tall (around twice the height of a man) figures; they are both lanky (with arms disproportionately long) but muscular, with green-tinged skin and large tusks jutting up from their mouths. They are dressed in rough, filthy hide armor that looks more cobbled together than crafted, and each is holding an enormous axe that looks like it's about as long as a man is tall.

They stare at you with crooked smiles, drooling a bit.

The room is open and plain, there is nothing to interfere with your movement, line of sight, or combat ability.

I'm using some other stamps I've got floating around to represent your characters. WHICH ONE ARE YOU? CHUMPY = swords (rawr!), STUMPY = smiley (hooray!), LUMPY = sheep (halfling sheepfucker), GRUMPY = trees (elf treehugger)

    It is LUMPY's turn

Lumpy will shoot his crossbow at the northern enemy. He will then step five feet backward to put himself behind Grumpy.

Thanks for using names that are virtually indistinguishable from each other instead of naming them after their classes or something.

It makes it easier to write poems about them that way.
